About our Broccolo Fiolaro di Creazzo

An Italian variety that grows many shoots instead of one central head. Fiolaro has been grown for centuries in Italy, and this unusual green is a welcome addition to our winter brassica offering. It is similar to Spigarellio in that it is made up of many side shoots – “fiois” – which grow from its stem and are harvested and cooked with the leaves.

Description:
This crop is a member of the Slow Food Ark of Taste list- an amazing catalogue of regionally important foods that are not cultivated commercially anymore and therefore are at risk of extinction. We're doing our part to keep this one alive and well, as we do with many other unusual varieties.
Seasonality:
November into Winter
Tasting notes:
These tender greens have a sweetness developed in colder weather, and an earthy and slightly milder flavour than our other brassicas. They're similar to our Spigarellio, and suit cooking methods similar to Kales.
Storage:
Keep in the fridge.
