Our Story

Flourish Produce is nestled in fields along the River Granta in South Cambridgeshire between the villages of Hildersham and Linton.

Founded in the summer of 2017 by Calixta and her two working horses Bill and Ben, the three of them ploughed the first furrow and planted the first vegetables and flowers, carefully cultivating their plants in what was then a small market garden.

Over the years, as Flourish has grown. Calixta and her team have worked diligently to improve the soil and biodiversity of the little piece of land they call home. They strive to make it as beautiful and abundant as possible, using regenerative and certified organic farming practices to grow delicious and nutritious produce.

Our Farming Practices

SOIL

Regenerative farming focuses on soil health. The soil on our farm is our most precious resource and we do everything possible to look after it and enrich it for years to come.

GREEN MANURES & BIODIVERSITY

Cover crops work alongside our homemade compost to feed our farm, adding nutrients and organic matter to the soil. This allows us to grow beautiful organic flowers and healthy, flavourful vegetables.

Growing a diverse range of crops increases soil organic matter, sequesters carbon, and provides wildlife habitats.

COMPOST & ANIMAL GRAZING

We transform food waste into compost to supercharge our soil with fertility.

Our neighbour’s sheep occasionally graze our fields, spreading manure to further enrich the soil.

Over the years as our soil becomes richer, it is better able to retain moisture and resist drought, improving our resilience to climate change

Horse Power

The farm’s foundations were laid with horsepower! Our horses Bill and Ben ploughed every field, spread compost and weeded using antique equipment.

The horses retired a few years ago and now we use vintage Massey Ferguson tractors that are light on their feet and don’t compact the soil.
