News From The Fields

It’s been a busy and exciting few weeks here on the farm as we dive into crop planning for next year – choosing all our tomatoes, peppers and aubergines and getting our seed orders in. Yesterday we managed to get all our green manures planted just before the rain rolled in – during a perfect last window of dry weather! We also had a lovely visit from Max and Ollie from Saffron Walden's Chaters this week, who came out to see the fields and tunnels. It’s always great to show chefs where their produce comes from.

Tinkerbell the tractor has been hard at work making the last of the beds for our Troy onions and Aquadulce broad beans, which we’re planting this week. They’ll be nestled next to our peonies and artichokes in the perennial block – a beautiful mix of food and flowers.

We’ve also been busy netting crops to protect them from the increasing wildlife pressure. The deer and birds have been enjoying our fields a little too much lately, so everything that goes in now gets tucked in nice and snug under netting to stop it being nibbled.

We’re thrilled to be heading to the BBC Food and Farming Awards in Bristol next week. It’s an incredible honour to be finalists among such an inspiring group of producers – wish us luck!

We’re Hiring: Local Delivery Driver ?

We’re looking for a local delivery driver to join our team and help us deliver fresh produce to our restaurant customers and veg boxes to homes in the local area.

The role involves early morning deliveries from the farm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays to our restaurant customers (to beat the traffic!), as well as veg box deliveries on Thursday early evenings – there’s some flexibility with timings. This role could be shared between two people, so if you or someone you know might be interested in helping part-time, we’d love to hear from you.
