Potting On & Plant Sale Prep
Hello friends,
Spring is definitely starting to make itself felt. We’ve had some beautifully warm days and the first cabbage white butterflies have already been spotted in the greenhouse (slightly less welcome visitors).
The propagation house is looking incredible – huge thanks to Linda for the care and attention she’s been giving the young plants. We’re right in the middle of the potting-up cycle, moving seedlings into larger pots while still sowing every week. Tomatoes, aubergines, peppers and chillies are all keeping the team very busy – it’s very much an all-hands-on-deck moment.
We’ve also been busy potting up thousands of young plants for our Flourish Spring Plant Sale on Friday 18 April, and we can’t wait to welcome you back to the farm.
Just like last year, it’s set to be a brilliant day in the courtyard – with music, great food, a pop up bar and a spectacular selection of plants ready to head home to gardens, allotments and windowsills.
Every plant has been lovingly grown here on the farm, many from varieties we source from around the world for our chef customers – chosen for incredible flavour, beauty and productivity. Expect plenty of unusual and hard-to-find varieties you won’t see at your local garden centre.
There’ll be hundreds of heirloom tomato plants (all Flourish favourites), alongside peppers, aubergines, chillies, lettuces, herbs – and yes, plenty of courgettes, which sold like hot cakes last year.
Our growers will be around throughout the day, so it’s a great chance to ask questions and get advice on what will thrive in your garden.
The courtyard will be buzzing too. Much loved local band Selkie’s Kiss will be joining us again and playing from 11am–1pm, and the Flourish Bar will be open serving local beers from Wylde Sky Brewing, wines by the glass or bottle, cider and soft drinks. Food will be provided by Hops and Tails, with salt beef sandwiches and homemade pickles, alongside a vegan mushroom option.
Mother’s Day in the Farm Shop
Our shelves are bursting with new arrivals at the moment, from thoughtful giftware to plenty of inspiration for easy, delicious meals at home.
If you’re visiting towards the end of the week, we’ll have fresh pastries baked and delivered every Friday and Saturday, perfect for a weekend treat.
With Mother's Day just around the corner, we’ve also put together a range of hamper ideas filled with some of our favourite farm shop products if you’re looking for a thoughtful gift.
And on the flower front, new varieties of tulips are coming through every day. We’ll have plenty of extra bunches available over the weekend for Mother’s Day – beautiful, seasonal stems grown right here on the farm.
